  • Cornwall Council Refuse and Recycling will be picked up from 6am in the morning in Penryn until future notice.
  • All Councillors to inform the Clerk if they will be taking leave and thus unable to attend the 15 August Planning Committee meeting
  • The Clerk had received correspondence from Ellis Crompton-Brown, Planning Officer for the proposed installation of homeless PODS in Commercial Road Car Park, explaining that it is still unsure when the application will be heard at Cornwall Council’s planning committee, it could possibly be towards the end of August 2022. The Admin Officer added that Councillors and staff were still recording, on a daily basis, the number of cars parking in the car park.

26. Updates on Planning Applications from Cornwall Council Members (Information Only)

Councillor Widdon reported:

  • Meeting with the open spaces team of Cornwall Council in regard to Trevance field, the site compound for the Studytel Student Accommodation. Unfortunately, the warranties for the unfinished building are still held by the old company, Caledonian Modular, and the documents cannot be accessed at present.  The business fee has since been renewed and there will be a priority of tidying up the site
  • The Kernick Road and College Hill new developments will not be using gas bopilers and will be more sustainable. Policies 7 to 11 of the town’s Neighbourhood Plan refer. It was highlighted by Cllr Wenmoth that the current development works on the sites, i.e. large mounds of earth everywhere were hindering the wild deer from being able to move freely and also that the bluebells have virtually been ruined.
  • Work has commenced on renovating two flats in Saracen House and one flat in Broad Street. Also, four new social housing properties will soon be available.  This will assist with the current housing shortages for local people in the town.
