Penryn’s Town Hall hosted its first wedding in September 2011. It is a perfect choice for both quiet and smaller affairs or larger ceremonies with seating for up to 80 people. The Town Hall is also licensed for other civil ceremonies such as the renewal of marriage vows.
About the Town Hall
Our beautiful granite Town Hall was originally known as the Market House and is one of the most recognisable landmarks in Penryn. It is thought that some of the stone from the historic ecclesiastical Glasney College was used in its construction. The clock tower is a later addition to the building, with work being completed in 1839.

Booking your special day
We want you to feel relaxed so our volunteer Councillors will guide you through the process and be there to greet you with a smile. Before making your final arrangements, please check with us about the availability of the Town Hall and contact Falmouth Registry Office to verify your date and times.
Cost
To hire the Town Hall for a wedding or civil ceremony we charge £360 including VAT. This covers the day prior to the ceremony to allow for setting up and decorating the hall as well as the day itself. A fee will also be payable to the Registry Office prior to the ceremony. Cornwall Council provides information about registry fees on their website.
Booking
If you are interested in booking the Town Hall for your wedding or another civil ceremony, please contact the Penryn Town Council offices on either 01326 373 086 or info@penryn-tc.gov.uk. You’re welcome to drop into Penryn Library where our offices are to speak with one of the team.
Reservation and payment
In order to reserve the date for your ceremony, we will require a non-returnable deposit of £150.00. The balance needs to be paid at least two months prior to the date of the ceremony. Payment can be made by card, cash, cheque or bank transfer (BACS).
Registrars
Marriages cannot take place without the attendance of the Superintendent Registrar and with civil partnerships a Civil Partnerships Registrar. It is therefore essential that you ensure the availability of your registrar before planning your ceremony. Note that a Superintendent Registrar can only perform a civil, non-religious ceremony and as such all music, readings and photography must be agreed upon with your registrar in advance.
