Platinum Jubilee Week Penryn

This year, Her Majesty The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee after 70 years of service. Get involved in celebrating Her Majesty’s historic reign.


Jubilee Programme 2022

Many events and activities will be happening throughout the UK and beyond to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee.

Penryn’s events for the week:

Royal Platinum Jubilee Beacon

Monday 30th May – ‘A Right Royal Connection’  7.30pm in the Temperance Hall. Historic talk on what the town did back in 1902 or what it didn’t do! Meet past mayors and listen to stories of past royal visits to Penryn. Followed by a ‘Right Royal toast.’ No need to book just turn up on the night.

Tuesday 31st May – 10am  ‘Make a Crown’ ‘Little Craft Room’ in Penryn Library All Welcome- materials provided. Adult Crowns can be entered in Wednesday’s Garden party competition. Children’s crowns will be judged at the Party in the Park on the Sunday.

Wednesday 1st June – 2pm Royal Garden Party in the Temperance Hall. Cake competition, Adult Crown competition and Royal Flower photo judging by Mayor and ‘Queen’. Singing by the Penryn Forget-Me-Not singers. Shop Window winner announced also.

Thursday 2nd June – 2pm Jubilee Tea Dance with Ron Bunyan and refreshments available. Free Event just pop along and join in.

7pm Royal Waterside Pageant with the ‘Queen’ arriving in a flotilla at Exchequer Quay. Met by the Mayor Julie Tucker on the Quay. Followed by a short service and then live music by The Prevention . With the lighting of the Jubilee Beacon event from 9.15pm

Friday 3rd June – Platinum Jubilee Celebration Dinner & Dance at the Falmouth Hotel –  £35 ticket available to purchase from Penryn Town Council. Contact linda.body@penryn-tc.gov.uk for tickets or ring 01326 373086.

Saturday 4th June – Meeting from 6.30pm with procession from 7pm Penryn Royal Jubilee Carnival/Parade from the Memorial Gardens – With the Falmouth Marine Band and the Redruth Boys & Girls Brigade. Embrace Dance group and the Supreme Star Majorettes will be taking part. All welcome come along dressed up in royal attire or similar. Red white and Blue theme.

Sunday 5th June 1pm-5pm Free Event ‘Royal Party in the Park’ – Trelawney Park, Penryn.

Gates open 12.30pm Introduction by Mayor 1pm

1.30pm The Motown Pirates

3.30pm The Qwest

Punch & Judy 1.30pm & 3pm

Free face painting and kids donuts/sweets

Children crown winner  announced also!

Event Closes at 5pm
