Vandalism to Permarin Toilets
The gent’s toilet at Permarin has been vandalised three times:
- The first time the external door was kicked-in, the door was repaired costing £500.
- The second incident involved the external door being kicked-in again and the addition of some graffiti,
- The third occurrence the internal cubicle door, along with the door frame were kicked-in, the toilet paper holder was damaged, and the toilet sanitaryware was smashed.
The toilet block is leased by the Town Council from Cornwall Council, at a recent Council meeting a discussion took place about whether the lease for the toilets should be surrendered, meaning the control of the public toilets would revert to Cornwall Council, which could mean that the toilet block will be permanently closed.
Currently, Penryn Town Council has voted against handing the toilets back to Cornwall Council but will review this decision in the autumn during the budgeting process, the toilets cost around £6,000 to keep open.
What should we do?
Would you like to see these toilets kept open; would you like to help us keep them in the community? Or should we return them to the control of Cornwall Council?
